Obituary

Justin Eugene Lipkins was born on August 19, 1989 to Capri and Odetta Lipkins in Richmond Texas. Shortly after his birth, the late Eugene and Francis Lipkins cared for him during his early childhood. At the age of six Justin was reunited with his mother Odetta Lipkins siblings Capri Banks, Quintan Lipkins and Shavawn Lipkins. He attended Elrod Elementary, Fondren Middle School and Westbury High School. Justin accepted the lord as his savior at the early age of seven where he was baptized at Riverdale Baptist Church. Justin’s childhood dream was to play basketball, but that dream was shattered when he was 11 years old. He was hit by a bus on February 16, 2001. His right knee & femur were broken, his teeth were knocked out. As if that wasn’t enough, he also found out following the accident that he had a heart murmur. From wheelchair, to walker, to crutches, he was told that he would likely have problems walking for the rest of his life. Pressing through this disappointing news, he didn’t allow himself to be discouraged. As a result of working hard in rehabilitation with the help of his aunt Cora Allen, Justin exceeded doctor’s expectations in his recovery. During his rehabilitation & rest time, Justin began writing poetry. At age 14, he wanted to join 1st Kuzzins, but they ignored him because they felt he was too young. His persistent attitude kept him going, and one day at Dwan’s house his cousins told him to kick a verse. Since then, there was no question that he had a place in the group and it was destined for him to shine. Justin was called home on January 7, 2011 after serving 21 years on the lord’s battlefield. He preceded his late grandparents Eugene and Francis Lipkins along with Manuel and Dorothy Banks. His celebration of life will be remembered by his father Capri Lipkins, his mother Odetta Lipkins, siblings, Capri banks, Quintan Lipkins, and Shavawn Lipkins. A nephew Ja’Koby Banks and host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
